Departmental Objective:

As a support service to the CNU community, the Student Mailroom and its staff strive to maintain the highest standards of service to all campus constituencies by subscribing to a "Students First" attitude and embracing the core values and mission of the University and to execute the responsibilities of the position in a professional, courteous and thoughtful manner and provide quality "customer friendly" service.

Purpose of the Position:

Located in the David Student Union, the purpose of the Postal Aide position includes but is not limited to receiving, sorting, tracking, and distribution of incoming mail and packages to CNU students who reside in University Housing facilities, as well as to guests who reside in CNU residence halls during summer conferences.

Additional objectives include providing services for the collection of outgoing mail and packages for these same groups and routing the packages to the USPS, UPS, Amazon, DHL, FedEx, and other carriers who provide these services to the Christopher Newport University Student Mailroom.

In addition, other objectives essential to the Student Mailroom operations include managing the assignments of student mailboxes and associated keys to CNU students who live in University Housing facilities.

  • Knowledge and proficiencies specific to tasks performed in a mailroom work environment.
  • Previous knowledge, ability, and proficiency, specifically working with EasyTrackIt software.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education:

  • High school graduation or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma

Salary Information:

Starting at $30,160, Commensurate with Education and Experience
