Job Description

Pillsbury is seeking a full-time Practice Support Manager to support the initiatives of our Business Units by working alongside the Global Business Leaders and other business operations departments (i.e. Finance, Talent Development, Human Resources, Pricing, etc.). This position will ensure operational efficiency, while working to develop, drive, and execute the strategic plans of the Global Business Leaders to meet the needs of the business unit and Firm initiatives. The Practice Support Manager is a highly collaborative self-starter, with demonstrated experience, confidence, and professionalism in communicating with partners, management, and timekeepers at all levels of the Firm.

We are looking to provide support to several Business Units, to include practice areas such as: Litigation, Regulatory, Corporate & Securities / Technology, Finance, Tax, Real Estate, and Global Sourcing.

We are seeking qualified candidates that are located near our Pillsbury offices in the following cities: New York, Washington D.C., Austin, Houston, Nashville, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Palo Alto, and Sacramento.

The Practice Support Manager will be able to utilize their skills in the following areas:

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Global Business Leaders and Practice Group Leaders to develop and implement procedures that align with business unit goals and Firm initiatives.
  • Talent Development: Facilitate the growth and development of non-partner timekeepers, ensuring equal work opportunities, and coordinating talent management efforts.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the efficient management of timekeepers' capacity, support staff functions, and normalized processes across offices to maintain strategic initiatives and business plans.
  • Training Coordination: Organize and lead training programs related to IT, Business Development, and interpersonal skills to ensure continuous professional development.
  • Innovative Collaboration: Coordinate with various departments to develop and implement competitive strategies to drive client service methods through innovation and efficiency by utilizing new technologies, processes, and industry standards.
  • Performance Metrics: Provide monthly performance reports and collaborate on pricing strategies to maintain competitive edge and enhance our overall client service.
  • Employee Relations: Work with Human Resources and Office Administrators to handle employee relations situations, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.


Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. Degrees in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field are highly preferred.

Experience: Experience as an attorney, other timekeeper, or manager in a law firm is required. A Minimum of three years in a supervisory role at a law firm, or similar professional service environment, is highly preferred.

In addition, the Practice Support Manager will be expected to have the following skills:
  • Leadership: The ability to motivate and guide a diverse team via strong interpersonal skills in a fast-paced, challenging legal work environment.
  • Organization: Exceptional multitasking and project management skills with the ability to analyze processes to determine effectiveness and deficiencies.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to correspond all levels business professionals, attorneys, and Firm leadership.
  • Technical: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, numerical analysis, and ability to utilize technology to advance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Global Business Unit.


Physical Requirements of the Position:

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

• Ability to travel if needed.

Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.

California, New York and Washington DC Pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience, is $170k - $220k.
