TITLE: Nutrition Program Assistant (EFNEP) (Fayette County) DEPARTMENT: College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources REPORTS TO: State Specialist for Community Nutrition Education CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the State Specialist of Community Nutrition Education, the Nutrition Extension Assistant (EFNEP) will deliver educational programs in nutrition and related subject-matter areas (nutrition, food safety, food resource management) to Kentucky residents to achieve nutrition goals and outcomes for targeted audiences that include underserved audiences, minorities, youth and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligible families. The Nutrition Extension Assistant (EFNEP) will be responsible for teaching in-person and virtual programs to families, individuals and small groups in Fayette County. They will also attend programs and events in targeted communities and schools as directed to promote and recruit individuals for programming. Other subject areas required to teach include food safety and planning food purchases on a limited income to provide maximum nutritional value. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Recruit youth and families to participate in the EFNEP Program.Conduct non-formal nutrition education learning experiences with the identified audience using identified nutrition education curricula.Reach, at minimum 150 youth and 54 adultsDevelop and present nutrition, food preparation, food selection, and food safety demonstrations.Routinely collects, compiles, and updates program data, needed for reporting while meeting the required deadlines.Attend all training meetings and conferences.Work collaboratively with other community agencies and resources.Other related duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Experience working with youth, adults, and/or families who come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.Ability to learn and present basic nutrition information and implement educational events.Knowledge of local community organizations and agencies.Oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have supervisory responsibility. OTHER DUTIES: The position will conduct other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED required; additional education preferred. Possess a valid Kentucky driver's license and insured automobile for business mileage reimbursement. Licensing and Certifications: NA WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to travel, primarily in-state (25%).Must be able to work evenings and weekends (50%)Occasionally may need to move light equipment and carry supplies, publications, and needed equipment for demonstration and training programs.Occasional outdoor work Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
