About the Department
The geriatrics program at The University of Chicago has been recognized for its excellence in patient care, teaching, and research for many years. U.S. News and World Report has consistently rated our geriatrics program one of the top programs in the state of Illinois and in the nation. Since its inception in 2000, the Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine has grown from seven full-time faculty members to twelve full time faculty members, making it one of the larger programs in the country. Together with approximately six geriatrics fellows per year and more than thirty research, clinical, and administrative staff, we are devoted to improving the care of the nation's older adults through our research, training, and patient care programs described below.

Job Summary
The Project Coordinator will be instrumental in supporting a variety of activities of the SHARE Network across various sectors and settings. Reporting to the Administrative Director, your duties will involve both long-term and short-term tasks, team coordination and individual project management, and maintaining current initiatives as well as exploring new initiatives. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential programmatic issues and enhancing operational activities. The ideal candidate will be mission-driven, flexible, reliable, and a great communicator. Exceptional organization skills and a comfort with multitasking is a must. The SHARE Network has many ongoing initiatives and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, supports, and coordinates regular community events in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Creates and organizes project-related handouts by ensuring all necessary materials are current, accurate, printed regularly, and properly filed and stored.
  • Maintains and regularly distributes Resource Guide to Hubs and other community partners.
  • Coordinates activities of students and other learners.
  • Coordinates activities of Community Advisory Board.
  • Enters and manages quantitative and qualitative data documenting SHARE Network activity.
  • Provides administrative support and database management responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assists with ongoing workforce education interventions in long-term care, hospital and clinic settings; create newsletter, plan events.
  • Oversees and enhances content for website.
  • Creates and grows audience for email newsletter and social media presence.
  • Represents the SHARE Network at community events as needed.
  • Facilitates small groups as needed.
  • Maintains inventory and re-order supplies.
  • The position requires traveling locally. Must have a car and insurance.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Maintains recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
