Two Dot Consulting (2DOT), an affiliate of Montrose Environmental Group, is an interdisciplinary Environmental and Engineering firm based in downtown Arvada, Colorado. We have offices throughout CO + WY and over 25 scientists, biologists, and engineers with a combined 230 years of experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Arvada, CO office is currently seeking a Project Manager with a minimum of 8 years of meaningful renewable permitting + planning experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong science background to support a variety of energy projects in CO, WY, NE, UT, NM, AZ, GA, MS, and TX. This position would help clients with planning and managing permit requirements for wind, and solar, hydrogen, electric power generation, and other related energy projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced leader with a minimum of 8 years managing all components of siting, permitting, and development of energy projects, regulatory knowledge and agency coordination.

As a key member of the 2DOT team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Manage full-life cycle of biological resources of small to large-scale projects.
  • Technical writing including proposals, technical reports, permits & permit-related documents, and senior level reviews of peer prepared reports.
  • Costing biological resource tasks for a range of projects.
  • Proven track record of providing quality, on-time products for clients, both internal and external within the Energy Sector.
  • Ability to work concurrently on several projects, each at different phases.
  • The position may require travel and an occasional overnight stay..
  • Oversee natural resource surveys (e.g., wetland, wildlife, raptor, vegetation, reclamation) and management per SOW.

  • Travel to 2DOT offices, project sites and project meetings on an as-needed basis.
  • Coordinate and train 2DOT staff to perform natural resource and compliance surveys.
  • Maintain and track progress for professional and personal goals with team members.
  • Maintain and oversee project budgets and schedules; prepare work scopes, survey plans and budgets to support project proposals.
  • Effectively communicate with team members on project status & staffing needs
  • Maintain and support 2DOT's data collection, and database management in support of 2DOT clients and internal use.
  • Coordinate and maintain efforts and oversee quality of work for 2DOT projects, project schedule, scope of work, budgets, and client relations associated with 2DOT clients.
  • Maintain and oversee multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or similar degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of managing renewable projects
  • The successful applicant will be safety conscience and continually assess ways to mitigate hazards.
  • Data management and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data analyses, compile data, and write technical documents.
  • Experience with electronic data collection (e.g. tablet).
  • Experience and knowledge with permitting process for renewable energy development projects.
  • Expertise in leading a team for the entire project life cycle.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and county regulations pertaining to state and federally- listed species.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and county regulations pertaining to wetlands and other biological resources.
  • Experience and a strong ability to effectively communicate with regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Experience writing proposals, estimating costs, and project management.
  • Proficient in technical writing, study plan compilation, describing baseline conditions, and impact analyses.
  • Researching and interpreting federal, state, and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements; and interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently, willingness to work as part of team, and the ability to stay positive and effective during long days in the field are critical.
  • Willing to work in sometimes difficult conditions and often miles from a vehicle. Physical challenges typically encountered may include long off-trail hikes, steep slopes, extreme hot and cold conditions and biological hazards (animals and plants).
  • Applicant must be able to work with and communicate with a diverse team and clients to provide high quality and efficient work products.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor field work (e.g., hiking, digging, driving UTV).
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • This is an in-person office position that requires team coordination and staff management.
  • Strong understanding of renewable and/or upstream/downstream energy sector & related permits.
  • Project execution at any stage of project life cycle through completion.
  • Strong understanding of western United States wildlife and vegetation.
  • Migratory bird and T&E species/habitat assessments .
  • Wildlife, migratory bird, and vegetation identification.
  • Wetland delineation experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and permitting experience under the CWA Section 404.
  • Wetland delineation training certification and PWS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to sensitive and protected species.
  • ESRI, Google, and Microsoft Suite proficiency.
  • Willingness to cross-train to support 2DOT's other environmental services.
  • Comfortable working in remote areas.
  • Virtual meeting applications (Google Meets, Teams, Zoom).
