Caterpillar is seeking a Quality Engineer in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will facilitate quality focused project teams to improve critical business processes that drive continuous improvement results. Implementing permanent corrective actions, in this high-volume machine production environment is a critical measurable. Active collaboration with manufacturing and design engineering, operations management, field facing teams and suppliers to understand root cause for field and factory defects will positively impact the customer experience will be a key success factor.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Train and guide cross functional Continuous Improvement project teams through complex issue resolution.
  • Utilize Lean and six-sigma methodologies with cross-functional teams through training and coaching team members.
  • Forge a Lean process-oriented organization which will positively impact the business.
  • Spearhead the quality project portfolio to align with business imperatives, improvement projects, and compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate multi-channel communication with projects sponsors and stakeholders both for facility and project metrics.
  • Accelerate resolution of product quality issues through monitoring analytics and identification of projects to resolve emerging issues.
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering or related technical curriculum.
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience, preferably in a Quality role.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management systems and ISO 9000 or Caterpillar equivalent.
  • Project management skills.
  • Data analytics capabilities
  • Ability to lead without authority (influencing skills)
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt experience
  • Power BI experience

The primary location for this position is Sanford, NC.
