Scope of Position:

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to providing high quality care and safety to patients. This position will have institutional responsibility for ensuring regulatory compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) institutional requirements, managing improvement metrics related to the Clinical Learning Environment, and other applicable Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements across the organization. The position collaborates with the Associate Dean of GME and GME staff, the Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officers, the Directors for Quality and Safety, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Center Compliance, Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs, Enterprise and Business Unit Leadership, Residency Program Directors and Coordinators, Chief Residents, and the Quality and Patient Safety Department to develop, promote and foster successful implementation of team-based initiatives that align with institutional and accreditation standards, meet healthcare quality outcomes, and ensure GME integration with these initiatives. While the position is housed in the health system's primary clinical learning environment (PCLE), University Hospital, the position will lead coordination of the above goals across other PCLES within the health system and with PCLEs outside of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where our residents and fellows train.

Position Summary:

This position will direct, manage and assess the activities, processes, and resources to ensure regulatory requirements, and quality and safety goals are met or exceeded through collaborative leadership. The position will ensure integration and alignment of quality and patient safety priorities at an institutional level. Directs and develops mechanisms to: 1) identify and prioritize on-going opportunities for improvement for resident and fellow engagement at programmatic and institutional levels, ensuring residents and fellows have meaningful involvement in data-driven quality improvement projects utilizing valid methodology 2) Partners with executive leadership and unit leaders for strategic planning and optimization of housestaff involvement for institutional initiatives including operational assessment of effectiveness across the medical center engaging clinical departments along with senior leadership. 3) Represents GME on enterprise level committees and councils with interprofessional stakeholders including Enterprise Healthcare Acquired Infection Governance Council, Clinical Practice Guideline Committee, University Hospitals Quality Council, University Hospitals/Brain and Spine Hospital Joint Rounding Committee. Promotes and drives change among residents and fellows in the area of institutional initiatives associated with the aforementioned enterprise level committees and councils. 4) collects, analyzes, and reports meaningful quality and patient safety resident and fellow metrics, 5) recommends and facilitates strategies for improvement across over 150o GME residency and fellowship programs, spanning 25 clinical departments. 6) monitors effectiveness of improvement strategies at programmatic and institutional levels through data oversight and management 7) provides performance feedback to residents and Fellows, pertaining to institutional level quality improvement initiatives as well as GME and program level initiatives. 8) validates sustained improvement over time, 9) provides education to GME program leadership in addition to residents and fellows related to the above activities, and 10) manages support person(s) rolling up to this position

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor's in education, business administration, or healthcare administration or an equivalent combination of education/experience required

Minimum Qualifications Required:

4 years of relevant experience required; considerable experience in program planning and administration preferred; considerable experience and knowledge of medical education and fellowship training program requirements and guidelines preferred; computer literacy required with knowledge of Microsoft Office; teaching knowledge of quality improvement methodologies desired; Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
