Purpose

This is a highly technical position pertaining to data collection, security, management, analysis, and reporting. The focus of this position will be reporting for the Children Services unit from our Exponent Case Management platform (on Salesforce Gov Cloud). The successful applicant will build and expand upon reporting systems in Salesforce focused on service metrics, demographic outreach, and extensive ad hoc needs to drive changes in program services.

The primary duties will entail developing and modifying existing Salesforce dashboards for varied user groups, establishing periodic reports for funders, and updating report structure and parameters when the program data collection evolves with new objects or values. The ideal candidate will also strive to identify areas where data quality can be enhanced, providing needed assistance to improve existing data and to drive future database changes.

Coterminous and secondarily, this role will assist other programs in our ECM (Salesforce) for any ad hoc reporting needs.

Additional future duties may include 1) assisting units\offices with data or reporting assistance in a support function, and\or 2) assisting the Director of Data Management and the IT staff in identifying data collection systems in use by CWS and its affiliates to facilitate integration and\or migration adhering to security protocols.

The Reporting Analyst keeps abreast of technical and program updates, initiates communication with stakeholders to develop reporting tools ahead of deadline and proactively identifies data points for data quality or service delivery. An important prerequisite for this position is the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to work independently, carrying out assignments through to completion. This position has a strong reporting line to the Children Services unit as a primary priority for CWS.

Responsibilities

    • Develop report systems for HSPRS and other programs to fulfill their reporting requirements: tabular client outcome and biodata; aggregated deliverable metrics; dashboards focused on performance and other indicators for leadership; dashboards for service delivery to alert staff to overdue tasks.
    • Assists with data discovery across CWS and affiliates to identify potential integration or migration opportunities, and to document security protocols in association with other IT staff.
    • Interacts with data including routine information updates.
    • Assists in maintaining program databases to create a better user experience for CWS affiliate and HQ staff.
    • Troubleshoots data submission errors and data error issues.
    • Evaluates, researches, and suggests the implementation of technical tools to improve CWS's data capacity and technological prowess.
    • Develops resources to serve as technical assistance and training tools for the affiliate network.
    • Understands and ensures compliance with privacy laws and standards and CWS' Data Security Policy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in querying, analyzing, summarizing, and visualizing data reports.
  • Previous experience working with complex Salesforce reporting in subjective datasets, with strong preference for casework datasets.
  • Salesforce administration\dashboard development or equivalent

Skills - Required:
  • Ability to work with data and text mining, forecasting, reporting, and querying.
  • Salesforce custom report generation.
  • Salesforce Admin\Development experience-certified or Sys Admin (at hire or within 9 months)
  • Analytical skills in comparing datasets.
  • Fluency in Excel, including complex functions, formulas and pivot tables.
  • Comfort with working with client information.
  • Communication with non-technical leadership staff.
  • Ability to work in a Windows-only environment.
  • High level of proficiency operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze resultant metrics to provide summarized and actionable findings.
  • Ability to acquire, document, and follow business requirements relevant to reporting.
  • Ability to generate ad hoc queries to cross-validate datasets and\or generate data dumps for migration\integration.

Skills - Preferred:
  • Experience with Power BI and\or Tableau.
  • Past experience working on non-profit monitoring and evaluation projects.
  • Ability to adapt knowledge base to novel applications and to utilize expertise to optimize solutions.
  • Self-starters, innovators, and adaptability in a collaborative team environment strongly preferred.

Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Specialized training in data analysis or social science research methods a plus
  • Strong preference for Salesforce certification (Admin, Architect, and\or Developer)

Special Requirements

  • This position is a role with in-person responsibilities with the option for remote work flexibility. Employees wishing to maintain a remote work arrangement must be able to fulfil the following conditions:
  • Ability to report to designated duty station as needed
  • Ability to maintain secure and appropriate personal work environment for day-to-day work
  • Access to strong and reliable internet access
  • Ability to adhere to CWS data security policies and protect sensitive and personally identifiable information
  • Regular work hours must span core business hours 8-5PM Eastern time
  • Close proximity to U.S. airport and ability to travel to attend CWS and external meetings, conferences and other in-person engagements
  • Must use CWS provided laptop and cell phone
