Salary/Position Classification

  • $52,823 + dependent on experience; Annual, Exempt
  • This position is eligible for a 5% wage increase following successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
  • 40 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability: Yes
  • Must be available to return to the main campus in Grand Forks, ND on a routine basis.
Purpose of Position

The purpose of this Research Analyst position is to provide research management and support to health workforce development activities and other projects as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate data collection, data analysis, and workforce data management

  • Develop surveys and implemental procedures for data collection.
  • Plan and conduct studies using appropriate methodologies.
  • Create online surveys.
  • Administer paper copy and online surveys.
  • Obtain secondary data sets.
  • Link data sets.
  • Clean and analyze data.
  • Prepare written reports of data findings, including charts and graphs.
  • Manage workforce data sets.
  • Maintain and update workforce data sets.
  • Work with surveys, licensure data, and facilities to maintain workforce data sets.
  • Maintain a knowledge base on workforce shortages.

Project coordination and support

  • Work directly with PIs to develop methods and means of analysis for projects.
  • Supervise student assistants.
  • Provide technical assistance to healthcare stakeholders.
  • Work with statewide partners (scheduling meetings, minutes, report writing, work plan activities).
  • Coordinate special projects related to program objectives.
  • Conduct literature reviews as necessary to inform outcome reporting.
  • Plan, organize and direct administrative activities.
  • Maintain files and materials in an organized manner.
  • Coordinate due dates and schedules for projects and deliverables with partners.

Information dissemination and expansion of knowledge base.

  • Prepare conclusions based on data analysis findings.
  • Interact with rural and workforce team members and rural health stakeholders.
  • Serve as a resource to departments and partners to assist with various procedures and documentation processes.
  • Strengthen relations with rural health stakeholders, administrators, providers, healthcare partners and others.
  • Public speaking (presentations and posters).
  • Dissemination of information to rural health stakeholders.
  • Keep current on rural health topics.

  • Familiarity with the internet and search engines (e.g. PubMed and internet survey tools).
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics or other quantitative social science or educational research related field.
  • Three years of directly relevant work experience that encompasses data analysis, applied statistics, statistical programs/applications, research methodology. May include relevant academic achievements, training, internships, or other research project experiences. Must be substantiated on applicant's resume.
  • Experience working with complex large data sets and prepare written conclusions based on data findings to include report writing. Must provide details in cover letter or separate attachment of two recent projects that highlight the applicant's experience and skills working with large data sets.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with database and statistical analysis (SAS programming language, SPSS, R or equivalent). Must be substantiated on applicant's resume.
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Prefer degree in statistics, mathematics, or other quantitative social science or educational research related field.
  • Research and/or research support experience.
  • Experience in data collection and entry, survey construction, and data interpretation.
  • Experience in presenting information or public speaking.
  • Relevant experience in higher education or research-focused workplace.
