Job Summary:

Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit-The Requard Center for Acute Rehabilitation

  • Directs and supervises performance of nursing, patient care techs, admission liaison, outcomes coordinator and administrative support.
  • Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation, the role works in partnership with Inpatient Rehabilitation Therapy Manager, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician, Hospitalists, Consulting Providers and Case Management personnel in dynamic Inpatient Rehabilitation environment to support functional outcomes for patients receiving both medical care as well as inpatient rehab level rehabilitation services.
  • Drives the operational care of the unit adhering to state and federal regulations and standards related to the provision of rehabilitation services for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities.
  • Partners for continuous improvement ensuring nursing practices are supported by standards outlined by Carf standards and current with evidenced based practice for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Establishes objectives with plans of action pertinent to area of responsibility in support of the system's strategic plan.
  • Directs, organizes, delegates, and performs a variety of personnel functions including the interviewing, hiring, evaluating performance, coaching, and disciplining of employees.
  • Assists with the preparation of operational and capital budgets, and continually manages financial resources to obtain maximum performance.
  • Evaluates staffing and scheduling as needed to ensure uninterrupted services and supports changes in services and patient care demands.
  • Reviews policies, procedures, and standards regularly to ensure compliance with all appropriate professional organization standards and all appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Contributes to and supports programs of education for departmental staff, medical and other staff development.
  • During staffing shortages or periods of unusually high patient census or acuity, the Manager may be utilized in the same capacity as a staff RN (see RN job description)
  • Attends System meetings and activities, as well as external agencies and organizations as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Current Maryland licensure. BSN required. Master's Degree is desirable. A minimum of three (3) years of related clinical experience that is compatible with area(s) of responsibility. Two years of decentralized management experience preferred. Certification in nursing specialty and/or nursing administration desirable. ACLS Certification (Critical Care) required within one year.
