Position Title: Laboratory Technician Lv3
Locations: Minneapolis, MN 55447
Anticipated Start Date: 8/1
Expected Duration: 11 Months
Job Type: Contract with Possible extension
Shift: Monday through Friday 8:00 - 5:00 PM; with some weekends as needed.
Pay Rate: $25.71/hr on W2

Job Description:
The Laboratory Technician will conduct day to day tasks supporting a molecular biology and fermentations R&D teams. Once trained, the technician will be expected to keep up with daily activities which will include, along with other general support duties, media and plate preparation, restocking of lab supplies, cleaning and sterilization of glassware, collecting and autoclaving waste, and maintaining the lab support areas of the lab.

The preferred candidate will have some lab experience and a good understanding of sterile techniques and excellent biosafety behaviors. It will also be important to have good basic math skills and an ability to operate day to day under minimal direct supervision. Technicians will also perform standard upkeep and cleaning protocols on multiple pieces of scientific equipment and become familiar with their general function.

This position will include some rotational weekend work, typically collecting samples for other scientist

Must complete Background Check and Drug Test.

Preferred Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent lab experience, biology or chemistry fields preferred
1-2 years of experience in a lab setting
Part-time lab experience during undergraduate studies a plus

Primary Duties:
General support for scientists
Media and plate preparation
Restocking lab supplies
Cleaning, waste collection, and maintaining the lab area
Keeping dish flow and sterilizing using autoclaves
Working with various lab equipment

Skill Requirements:
Understanding and working in GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) conditions.
Sterilization techniques such as autoclaving and basic lab procedures.
Calculating buffer concentrations and dilutions.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to occasionally lift 20-30 lbs.

Software Skills:
Proficiency with Excel, Office, Teams, and Outlook.
Work Environment & Scheduling:
PPE must be worn - nonporous shoes provided by Cargill. Must also wear lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves.
Weekend hours only 1-2 hours in a day. Rotation occurs upon request based on need, and time off may be taken through the week of to compensate for time scheduled for the weekend.
No OT available.
