Background Information:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Senior Digital Systems Engineer to be based in our Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel, NJ office.

Overview:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex defense systems, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with Digital Twin Engineering experience to join our dynamic team. The selected Senior Digital Systems Engineer will be responsible to lead digital system integration including software virtualization, hardware emulation, and modeling and simulation components within a US government-owned Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDEE).

All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead a detailed analysis of existing digital system representations, including software virtualization, hardware emulation, and modeling and simulation components.
  • Lead the development of a plan to update existing digital system representations and create new digital system representations.
  • Lead the integration of digital system representations within a government owned IDEE to support system of systems (SoS) design, development, integration, test, and evaluation.
  • Work closely with the US government representatives and stakeholders to obtain existing digital artifacts and justify the need for additional digital artifacts based on fidelity requirements.
  • Lead development and implementation of a plan to verify and validate individual digital system representations and the integrated SoS environment.
  • Actively assist US government stakeholders in creation of digital representations of software defined antenna equipment and integration within the PNT SoS IDEE.
  • Lead development and implementation of a plan to periodically update and test digital representations and the integrated SoS environment.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or equivalent. Master's degree in relevant technical discipline, preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical experience (preferably in defense), including digital system development or integration
Required Skills:
  • Defense system integration and test experience, with server and/or desktop virtualization
  • Familiar with Networking basics
  • Experience with the following technology areas: Docker, Helm, K8s/Kubernetes, Ansible-playbook, and SQL relational databases (at least one of: Postgres, MS-SQL, Oracle)
  • Proficiency in a Linux operating environment, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Ability to read, write, and debug scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, Java, C/C++, and JavaScript
  • Virtualization infrastructure experience with VMware/KVM or similar virtualization tools
  • Ability to lead small technical teams in the conversion of logical systematic conversion of program requirements into solution that acknowledge technical and cost constraints
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes
  • Clearance: Secret or ability to achieve Secret clearance
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with the Unites States Air Force (USAF) Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) system, including the Resilient Embedded GPS/INS (R-EGI) internal sub-systems and components.
  • Experience with software defined antenna equipment and other software defined user equipment
  • Experience with Radium, Argocd, Rancher, and Keycloak
  • Experience with software testing, configuration management, and test automation
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, algorithms, and software design patterns
  • Proficiency working with different software development tools (Git, SVN, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Nexus, etc.)
