JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is seeking a Senior HSSE Manager to support Wood's rapidly growing Power and Industrial business based out of Fort Myers, FL.
Successful candidates must live in, near, or be willing to relocated to the Fort Myers, FL area.

The Senior HSSE&S Manager is responsible for the provision of timely advice and guidance on matters pertaining to Health & Safety, Security, Environment & Sustainability, with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System and Client requirements, thereby reducing risks to the business.

The Senior HSSE&S Manager will report to the US East Operations Director and VP of HSSE&S for the Operations Business Unit and have direct responsibility for the members of the Power & Industrial Service Line.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior HSSES Manager will have extensive required regional travel to assist with Shutdown/turnaround and outage activities during peak season. E.g. Provide support with initial kick off shutdown/turnaround or outage work activities such as training, assurance activities and incident investigations, and finding local HSSES staff for these activities as warranted.

  • Provide strategic advice, guidance, and support on HSSE&S matters to the business' Senior Leadership Team, Project Managers and HSSE&S Advisors
  • In conjunction with the US Operations Director and VP of HSSE&S, roll out Company HSSE&S objectives and develop specific HSSE&S objectives for project work, as necessary
  • Roll out Company HSSE&S campaigns and initiatives and develop and roll out business-specific campaigns and initiatives.
  • Monitor industry best practice to assist in the development of the above
  • Lead high potential (Level 2) incident investigations and provide support and / or review lower potential (Level 1) incident investigations.
  • Establish and ensure an acceptable quality of incident investigations, including the generating of meaningful lessons learned, recorded as SMART corrective / preventative actions
  • Undertake management support visits to Power & Industrial facilities and worksites and providing constructive reviews of the status
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of an annual, risk-based, assurance schedule
  • Provide weekly reports to the business leadership
  • Undertake leading and lagging indicator analysis for the business and provide business-wide alerts to advise the business leadership of trends which cause concern
  • Act as the HSSE&S focal point for clients
  • Provide training and mentorship for new recruits into the HSSE&S team, as appropriate
  • Provide cross-Business Unit support as required
  • Travel will include approximately 50%+


QUALIFICATIONS

Skills / Qualifications
  • 10+ Years of Experience in similar field, or
  • 5+ years of experience with Degree qualified in relevant discipline, or
  • in lieu of qualifications, candidates with significant industry experience (20+ yrs.) are encouraged to apply.
  • Bilingual an asset (English/Spanish)
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • HSSE&S Management experience with project and corporate experience in shutdown/outage work, transmission and distribution, oil and gas or other related industry
  • Excellent working knowledge of US legislation
  • Ability to deploy and maintain management systems
  • Ability to undertake investigations, establish causal factors, root causes, and then develop suitably detailed investigation reports including corrective/preventative actions
  • Ability to develop training and campaign materials
  • High level of communication skills, (both written and spoken), and ability to use them effectively across all aspects of the business, (e.g., with the workforce, business management, HSSE&S management, and client)
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Competent MS Office suite user
