Under the direction of the Manager, Association Health Plans (AHP) and National Special Accounts, the Senior Key Account Specialist works closely with the association director, manager and consultant(s) in the planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, along with administration and management of association groups. The association team is responsible for prospecting, onboarding, retention, and renewal processes for all association business. Alongside the Sr. National and Key Account Sales Consultant, the Senior Key Account Specialist also facilitates open enrollment and retention activities with association contacts.

Compensation
$80,720 - $96,000 annually

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.

What you'll do
  • Plan and coordinate activities for large association accounts; manage daily operations and communication for assigned large groups.
  • Prepare proposals in response to Request for Proposals ("RFPs"); oversee proposal and renewal rating processes, including calculations of rates and premium comparisons. Prepare quarterly and monthly reports for consultants.
  • Perform service and retention functions for consultant's assigned accounts.
  • Explain benefit options, regulations and laws associated with association sales and enrollment.
  • Act as liaison to provide accurate information and quality customer service, addressing inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a timely manner. Support service and retention for existing large associations and assist with new sales processes.
  • Work with various internal teams to resolve inquiries related to benefits, claims, and billing; assist field personnel in understanding policies and procedures.
  • Develop and recommend improvements for sales materials and aids; maintain and monitor sales aids for effectiveness.
  • Assist in staff training on large association guidelines; observe compliance with corporate standards and maintain confidentiality.
  • Manage high volumes of emails and inquiries, coordinate travel and meeting schedules for consultants, and oversee the distribution of open season materials.
  • Track weekly wins/losses and compile monthly goal reports for regions.
  • Oversee Custom Benefit requests, including sending, tracking, and recording requests; manage exceptions process with management oversight.

  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized self-starter with exceptional attention to detail; adept at prioritizing, tracking, and completing multiple projects under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable making presentations and effectively conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong team player committed to the success of BCBSKS, with proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships and navigate day-to-day communications.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis and creative thinking for planning and resolving issues.
  • Time Management: Ability to work independently, manage a heavy workload, and utilize strong time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills, with a focus on follow-up and conflict resolution; dedicated to fostering positive relationships with clients.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications; ability to quickly acquire knowledge about corporate policies, product lines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Professional Integrity: High degree of honesty, loyalty, and confidentiality; adherence to corporate compliance and information security standards.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of insurance products, services, federally mandated laws, alternate funding arrangements, and rating practices.
  • Persistence and Adaptability: High level of persistence and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments; experienced in project management and managing competing priorities.

What you need
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years' work experience in sales coordination, office administration, and/or a business operations position.
  • Requires the ability to acquire and maintain a State of Kansas Insurance Agent's license within 60 days of employment and must maintain license throughout employment with BCBSKS.
  • Experience in coordinating work in cross-functional teams.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and comply with all necessary agreements, including a non-compete agreement.

Bonus if you have
  • Prior experience with health insurance or Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas ("BCBSKS") experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • May require lifting, bending, and loading supplies and small office equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel may be required.
