Nature & Purpose of Position:

JOB TITLE: Intramural Official (Work Study Eligible)PAY RATE: $10.00 per hourSUPERVISOR: Assistant Director of Intramural Sports & EsportsJOB FUNCTION: Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Intramural Sports program which includes enforcing policies and procedures, officating multiple sport games, and daily facility upkeep/cleaning.HOURS: Up to 25 hours per week. Flexible work schedules ( morning, afternoon, and night shifts)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Main point of contact and responsible for assisting up to 500 participants per shift.· Responsible for ensureing game quailty, by offciating various Intramural Sports.· Provide exceptional customer service to patrons by having strong communication and interacting with everyone in a respectful, cooperative manner.· Maintain a professional appearance and attitude throughout shifts.· Serve as a resource by providing accurate and current information regarding rulings and calls.· Assist Intramural Supervisors with facility operations that include equipment set up and tear down, cleaning, evacuation, and hourly participant reports.· Report to authority figures such as program assistants, supervisors, and professional staff.· Assist with other duties as assigned (may result in helping other program areas within Campus Recreation).POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently enrolled in 6 or more credit hours at Sam Houston State University
• Successfully pass the State of Texas criminal background check
• Completion of SHSU student employee compliance training and any additional trainings required by the department and university

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:· Able to work on late nights throughout the week· Possess a passion for working with people and around sports· Be able to work in an active, crowded, and fast-paced environment· Must have an increased focus on being punctual, reliable, and dependable· Excellent communication skills and the able to work with a wide variety of personalities· Open to constructive feedback while also keeping a positive and upbeat attitude· Ability to handle conflict as well as confront patrons in a calm and professional mannerOpen Date:
