Job Summary

The Student Support Advocate will offer on-going support and resources related to food and housing insecurity, economic and personal crisis interventions using a compassionately intrusive and individualized case management approach.

Job Dutie

* Identifies and intervenes as early as possible with students in need of basic needs support and other college or community support services.

* Provides case management services including assessment, advocacy, resources, and referrals to students on a case-by-case basis.

* Helps students navigate state and local social services. Provide financial literacy instruction to small groups or individual students.

* Assists the Dean of Students team in the coordination of events and activities to support the Basic Needs Program such as Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week and more.

* Supervises FWS students in the Harriman Food Pantry and coordinates coverage for open hours.

* Manages Money SKILL Personal Finance Course.

* Provides consultation to students, faculty, staff, parents, and family members who are concerned about a student experiencing basic needs insecurities.

* Builds effective and collaborative working relationships with the campus partners.

* Carries out and supports special projects as a member of the Dean of Student office.

* Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in education, social work or related field required.

Preferred Qualifications

* Familiarity with the Money SKILL or similar personal finance course.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Experience in case management.
* Knowledge of community resources in Roane State Service areas.
