The System Architect is responsible for defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for a functional business value stream to help ensure the system or solution under development is fit for its intended purpose. The System Architect describes the solution context and solution intent, analyzes technical trade-offs, determines the primary system configurations, identifies the interfaces and collaborations between them, defines non-functional requirements, and works with all relevant stakeholders to help ensure fitness for purpose.
Role & Responsibility
- Lead team in Program Increment (PI) Planning and Pre- and Post-PI Planning, System and Solution Demos, and Inspect and Adapt events
- Define, explore, and support the implementation of Agile Release Train (ART) and Solution Train Enablers to evolve solution intent, working directly with Agile teams to implement them
- Participate in day-to-day team activities such as planning, definition, and high-level design of the system architecture and exploring system alternatives under the guidance of the Solution Architect for the holistic view.
- Identification of epic-level / cross-team feature enablers forward and oversee / confirm any system-level enablers
- Actively participate in the Continuous Exploration process as part of the Continuous Delivery Pipeline, especially with enabler Epics
- Define subsystems and their interfaces, allocate responsibilities to subsystems, understand solution deployment, and communicate requirements for interactions with solution context
- Work with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to establish high-level Solution Intent (Solution
- Specifications, Design and Tests), and the solution intent information models and documentation requirements
- Support technology/engineering aspects of Program and Solution Programs
- Provide oversight and foster Built-In Quality and Team and Technical Agility
- Work through the entire life cycle of planning, acquisition and deployment, operation management and maintaining system integrity
- Enable the Continuous Delivery Pipeline through appropriate design guidelines and investment advocacy
- Establish critical NFRs (Non-Functional Requirements) at the system level, participate in the definition of others
- Operate within the Economic Framework to validate the economic impact of design decisions
- Work with system stakeholders, notably the Solution Architect, to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of system enabler epics
- Plan and develop the Architectural Runway in support of new business Features and Capabilities
- Work with Product and Solution Management to determine the capacity allocation for enablement work
Job Requirement
- 3-5 years of experience in Systems Engineering and IAM systems
- Travel Standard < 15%
- Advanced experience in:
- Analytical, conceptual, and troubleshooting abilities
- Intermediate experience in:
- System creation and development
- Conduct technology, trends, standards, and products research
- Experience providing guidance and leadership to other systems engineers / developers
- Prioritize and execute tasks when under pressure
- Proven experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving system problems
- Understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Beginning experience in:
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- Developing strategic system architecture plans
