Who are we looking for?

GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director - Water Resources with experience in projects relating to dams, levees, water resources, civil works infrastructure and stormwater facilities such as flood control works, channels, and culverts. This position will work from our Irvine office, supporting projects in the West Region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs field evaluations to evaluate the condition of dams, levees, spillways, and flood control structures.
  • Manage of dam-safety monitoring and surveillance programs.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, surface-water flow investigations, dam-breach analysis, and flood inundation studies.
  • Periodic inspections and initial eligibility inspections of levees and flood control works.
  • Perform hydrogeologic studies to assess the feasibility of using groundwater as a source of water supply for production wells including developing recommendations to address safe yield of the aquifers, effects of competing withdrawals, design of storage facilities, and evaluation of water quality.
  • Perform subsurface soil and groundwater investigations that address a variety of water supply, environmental, and hazardous waste issues and included compliance with requirements of regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
Qualifications;
  • Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in dam safety monitoring and hydrology and hydraulic analysis
  • PE registration in California required
  • USACE experience required

Salary Range- $165000 -$248,000 based on experience
