Academic Req: Required- Master's degree in counseling from accredited college or university and valid Texas Counseling Certificate.

Scope of Work: Successfully engage and interact with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program for ISD partners. Counsel students to fully develop each student's academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students.

Competencies
1. Master's degree in counseling with a valid Texas Certificate in Counseling
2. Academic programs, policies and procedures
3. Community-based organizations and resources
4. Interact effectively with parents and community partners
5. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
6. Analyze complex information and data
7. Implement long-range and immediate plans
8. Operate standard computer and software applications, including, but not limited to electronic mail, MS applications (word, ppt, excel), databases and presentations
9. Communicate and collaborate between and among various areas of the district to support healthy students, high student achievement and customer satisfaction
10. Organize and prioritize work responsibilities.

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
1. Provide counseling to students as needed to support an emotionally safe and supportive learning environment.
2. Provide counseling as a related service to special education students including completing formal evaluations and periodic IEP progress reports and attending ARD meetings.
3. Make referrals to outside agencies as needed.
4. Document student needs and suggest related services as appropriate.
5. Provide teachers with resources and support for appropriately managing student behaviors.
6. Assist with implementation of a school-wide anti-bullying and character education programs.
7. Promote and contribute to campus-wide initiatives.
8. Consult with school staff, parents, and other community members to increase student effectiveness and promote student success.
9. Deliver classroom guidance, group guidance and serve as a consultant to teachers.
10. Support and participate in meeting the objectives of the campus/department improvement plans.
11. Protect the confidentiality of students and their families.
12. Support the mission and vision of the campus and district.
13. Adheres to policies and procedures of the ISD partner.
